Welcome to VirtualSoundStudio
VirtualSoundStudio is back, but with a difference. Just for old times sake I have put back the original layout and colorscheme (I still like it a lot). You will find most of the documents like tutorials and plug-in reviews I had on this site and Orion-Central as well. VSS is also once again the home of the VSS-community: a discussion board for people using software-based musical gear. Not about getting this stuff but more about using this stuff to make music. Besides these things the site is now also aimed at my own music projects and all kinds of things related to that.

I hope to bring back at least a little bit of the nice atmosphere we used to have here on the site. So if you liked hanging around here before (like ages ago) then feel free to do so again

Music Projects
VSS is the home of my current music projects. You can find information about tracks, releases, instruments used, backgrounds, etc. Below you find a little introduction on the current projects and some info about past projects as well. Have fun.

GridlockMomentum

The GridlockMomentum project is a combination of Symphonic Rock, Orchestral Electronica and 80's New Wave. Inspiration and influences are coming from (among others) great Symphonic Rock bands like Rush, Pink Floyd, Camel and Alan Parsons Project, Orchestral Electronic artists like Synergy (Larry Fast), Kitaro, Tomita and New Wave era artists like Ultravox, Rupert Hine and Gary Numan. The final sound comes down to a rock-based rythm section with just anything and everything on top that will fit, atl east from my point of view.

V-Ger

V-Ger is a revisitation of Space Age music like Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Gandalf, Klaus Shulze and Logic System using modern virtual synths and effects. Dreamy soundscapes and hammering sequences combined into a musical expedition into electronic sounds.

Other projects

This website is also an online archive of all the projects I did and bands I played with during the past 25 years or so. Every project and band I ever participated in or did myself is listed. Over time I will add restorated tracks (currently mostly residing on cassette tape) and related photographs that I might find while digging up all this stuff.

About my Studio
I started out more then 25 years ago building my first hardware synthesizer. After that one I owned many great and some not so great synthesizers (although I loved them all). A few years ago I decided to move completely to a software-based studio as the VST/VSTi standard was becoming a viable option to do so.

This website is documenting the result of this exercise: a completely software-based recording studio (apart from some needed hardware like a computer, audiocard, some controllers and such).
